Abstract Glycogen is a natural polysaccharide with dendrimer structure, in which glucose frequently branched and polymerized. Functionalizing the numerous non-reducing ends on molecular surface of glycogen could be expected to enable its use various fields. We developed method for enzymatically synthesizing suitable form from sucrose by using phosphorylase branching enzyme, both belong α-amylase family, as well glucan phosphorylase. refer this synthesized (GD). then selectively modified GD particles reaction hexose 1-phosphates. Modifying glucuronic acid or glucosamine added negative positive charges particles. In addition, we found that and/or residues at can used covalently conjugate functional substances, such sugar chains, proteins, peptides modification represent versatile platforms pharmaceutical applications polysaccharides.
